Juniors at Brisbane International Speedway
Saturday, 14th April 2007
The juniors were given two 8 lap heats & a 10 feature. The racing they provided for a very large crowd was excellent. The only disappointing part was the low number of nominations with only 6 cars facing the starter.
Heat 1
The drivers did a great job a slippery surface . Winner of heat 1 was Liesa Smith leading start to finish.
Second home was Felicia Mitchell from the back row of the grid. The two girls put on a great battle over
the last 3 laps with Felicia trying an outside pass on coming into turn 3 but Liesa held to win.
Making it a trifecta for the girls coming home in third was Amy Smith .
Rounding out the finishers Sean Black, Fiona Gegg & Ryan Jannusch in the ex Jason Gray car.
Heat 2
This was an all the way win from pole for Felicia. Coming home in second was a fast finishing Amy Smith &
third was Liesa giving another clean sweep for the girls. Sean, Fiona & Ryan rounding out the finishers.
Feature
This saw an all girl front row Felicia from 1 Liesa from 2 Amy from 3 Sean out of 4 with Fiona &
Ryan off the back row. Once again Felicia got the jump & lead into turn 1 followed by Liesa , Amy,
Sean , Fiona & Ryan. While Liesa, Amy & Sean battled for 2nd 3rd & 4th for the first 3-4 laps
Felicia built up good lead. On lap 4 Liesa had to pull infield as the bonnet on her cortina flew up
ending her race. Sean got through into 2nd on lap 6 & set out after Felicia. Ryan was getting more &
more confidence behind the wheel of his new car which him getting quicker with every lap. Fiona was
driving well following right behind Ryan. She just needs more time behind the wheel to build her confidence.
Felicia's lead was too much for Sean close & she went on to win. Sean 2nd Amy 3rd Ryan 4th Fiona
5th & the non-finishing Lisa.
I would like to thank all those involved for taking their cars to Brisbane. Special mention to the Jannusch family who only picked up the new car that morning & raced that night.
Don't forget there is another meeting on Saturday May 5th in Brisbane so get the cars ready for our last run together for the 06/07 season. If I don't get a good number of nominations I will cancel this meeting.
