Junior News

17th November 2007

A light shower of rain was falling as the juniors lined up to race at Charlton on Nov 17. Not enough to cancel the meeting but enough to make the track difficult to drive on. However the mighty Charlton juniors rose the challenge and made the best of it.

Ash Volk started off pole and ran away with the race. There were a couple of spins and restarts but generally the race went smoothly.

James Campbell had pole for heat two and duplicated Volk's first heat run away win with Amy Smith in for second and Hayden Byrne third. Jesse Volk T-boned Ryan Jannusch on the front straight but it was nothing a hacksaw, cable ties and a few rivets couldn't fix. It was good to see the lads in there helping to get Jesse and Ryan back on the track for the feature.

James and Hayden shared the front row for the feature. It was an action packed race with Amy Smith, Jesse Volk and Hayden Byrne locked in battle for 2nd place. Cars were three wide into turn one and eventually Amy Smith broke free from the pack and finished second behind James Campbell with Jesse Volk taking third.

Next race meeting is only two weeks away so bash out the dents and slap on the tyre black and we'll see you again on Dec 1.

Peter Campbell.
