Junior News

3rd November, 2007

13 juniors faced the starter for the meeting on Nov 3, a night that was dominated by Team Volk.

The first heat was postponed till after the sprintcar time trials. By this time the track had gone hard and the addition of some water made it into an ice skating rink. James Campbell beat Jesse Volk into turn one only to come unstuck in turn four where he went too fast for the conditions and spun in front of the field. Fortunately no-one ran into him and he was able to rejoin the race without the yellow lights coming on. Anteny Genrich won the heat from Jesse and Ashley Volk.

Once again the track was better to drive on for the second heat and there was plenty of action throughout the field. The three cars of Jesse Volk, Ryan Jannusch and James Campbell bounced off each other coming out of turn four. It looked like all three cars would end up in a huge crash but they all came away ok. Ashley Volk won the heat with the hard charging Anteny Genrich in for second. James Campbell fought this way through the pack for third.

Anteny Genrich was top point scorer for the night and started off pole however he was forced to retire on the first lap due to a loss of oil pressure. James Campbell and Ashley Volk swapped places a couple of times with Volk coming out on top, Campbell second and Hayden Byrne beating Amy Smith by a nose after a race long dice for third.

We'll see you all again on Nov 17.

Peter Campbell.
